The binary MOD12CI 0.25 degree (28 km) Climate Modeler Grid (CMG) of land cover is derived from NASA HDF-EOS MODIS/Terra Land Cover Type 96-Day L3 Global 0.25 Deg CMG V003. It identifies 17 classes of land cover based on the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) global vegetation classification scheme. This scheme includes 11 natural vegetation classes, 3 developed land classes.
